With full hearts and deep appreciation for a life lived unapologetically, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, Diane Janiszewski. She left this world peacefully on May 5th, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 86.
Born in McKeesport, PA in 1938, she was truly one of a kind-an independent spirit, sassy to her core, and never afraid to speak her mind. Proud, and wise beyond measure, she possessed a rare gift: an uncanny intuition that made you feel like she always knew what was going on.
She lived most of her life in Chicago, raising her children there. Then retiring to Kentucky with her beloved husband, John Janiszewski. In their 30 years of marriage, they enjoyed patronizing the Moose Lodge, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Janiszewski, and daughter Nancy Baczynski.
She is survived by a large loving family that includes:
• 6 Children: Debbie Winters, Sue Derry, Kevin Barry, Kelly Douglas, Liz Chada, and John Barry
• 14 Grandchildren
• 21 Great grandchildren
And of course, let's not forget Birdie, her beloved Bichon.
Diane worked many years after 'retiring'. At her role as the Marriot concierge, she won the Rose award, which was the top award for amazing customer service. Personable and quick-witted, she made fast friends and lasting impressions. Her co-workers called her Mama D.
Our mother taught us to be independent, responsible, and to have an excellent work ethic. We are all grateful for the strength and accountability she instilled in us. Without this, who knows where we would be today!
