Diane Caroline Nichols, 83, of Alpena, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Mercy Hospital of Northwest Arkansas in Rogers.
She was born September 29, 1941, in Minot, North Dakota, to Louis Joseph and Norma Evelyn Olson Steinberger. On October 3, 1965, she married the love of her life, Reed Nichols, and was a devoted and loving wife and homemaker for many years until his passing in 2016.
Diane loved visiting with friends and family and enjoyed spending time outside in nature. She also found joy and peace listening to Lawrence Welk and gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Clifford and Dean Nichols; and two sisters, Myrna Hess and Arlys Zauner.
Survivors include six daughters, Cindy (James) Stewart of Fayetteville, Barbara Nichols of Fayetteville, Melisa (Donnie) Kilpatrick of Fayetteville, Evelyn (Roy) Doss of Prairie Grove, Debra (Tommy) Walls of Alma, and Joyce (Russ) Wescott of Lincoln City, Oregon; one brother, Jim (Joyce) Steinberger of Eugene, Oregon; and two sisters, Deloris (Bill) Piller of Oregon City, Oregon, and Sherry (Terry) Parks of Salem, Oregon.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Dunkard Cemetery in Alpena, with Father Joseph Archibong officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., prior to the service at the cemetery.
