Dolores Ann Mullins, 83 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 4th, 2025. She was born on April 1st, 1942 in Nashville, Tennessee to James Elvis Mullins and Mary Catherine (Wells) Mullins Griffin, who predeceased her. A graduate of Shawnee High School and the University of Louisville, Dolores retired as a school teacher after 35 years, teaching health and physical education while also coaching track and field, tennis, golf, and cross country. Educating young people was her life's passion. She often referred to her students as her kids. She was also a pioneer in the advancement of women's sports. Aside from her own personal pursuits of athletics displaying a high level of skill in golf and basketball, Dolores became the first female track coach to be inducted into the Indiana High School Track and Field Hall of Fame. As the head girls track coach at Jeffersonville High School from 1967 to 1983, the Red Devils won two state championships (1975 &1977), two state runner-ups, six regional championships, eight sectionals, and two conference titles. More personally, Dolores enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, golfing, and traveling as well as visiting with friends and family. She was very popular with everyone she met. Her laid back style made her a required addition to everyone's life who had the good fortune to meet her. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Mullins (Deborah) and longtime friend, Sidney Stone. She is survived by her three nephews, James Robert Mullins, Jr., Jeffrey Mullins (Ashley), Corey Mullins (Rebecca), and three great nieces and one great nephew, Jayne Mullins, Lola Mullins, Shepard Mullins, and Margaret Mullins.

The gathering to celebrate Dolores will be held Friday, October 10, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Highlands (3331 Taylorsville Road in Louisville). In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for any donations to be made to dementia research.
