Curtis Don Stafford, 81 of Witharral, TX passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. A visitation for family and friends has been scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025, at Krestridge Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Whitharral Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Whitharral Cemetery.
Don was born on June 8, 1943, in Fort Worth, TX to Curtis and Ludell (Harp) Stafford. Shortly after he was born, they moved to Whitharral, TX. He graduated from Whitharral High School in 1961 and began farming after graduation. On June 19, 1964, he married the love of his life Bettye Kay Russell in Levelland, TX. They welcomed their first son Brad on January 5, 1966, and their second son Mike also known as Henry, on April 8, 1968.
Throughout Don’s life he served on the Whitharral School Board, Triangle and Opdyke Gin Boards, Hockley County Farm Bureau, Hockley County Livestock Show Board, and the Whitharral Lions Club. He was also a lifetime Texas Tech Red Raider fan. Don was an avid wood worker and gardener and loved to hunt, fish or do anything that involved spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his wife Bettye; sons Brad Stafford and wife Mary, Mike Stafford and wife Amie; grandchildren: Kayla Holder (Luke), Curt Stafford, Kyle Stafford, Matt Stafford, Mahalie Stafford, and Maddie Stafford; great-granddaughter: Lena Holder; sisters: Barbara Grant, Jackie Cheek and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Curtis and Ludell Stafford; in-laws: Ed and Dess Russell; brothers-in-law: Danny Grant, Freddy Woodley, and Don Cheek; and niece dana Grant Kirkland.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Whitharral Cemetery, Whitharral Baptist Church, Hockley County Jr. Livestock show in memory of Don Stafford in care of AG products. (PO Box 786, Levelland, TX 79336)
