Donald Joseph Barrows
June 10th 1954 – June 19th 2025
Don was born on June 10th 1954 to Donald and Eleanor Barrows of Port Townsend, WA where he was raised and spent his life rooted in the community he loved. Don graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1972 and began his career in auto mechanics working at the Uptown Union Station and eventually purchased the business from Skip Lewis. Later he leased and operated the Texaco Station and in 1979 he built and opened his own auto shop, Don’s Automotive Service, that successfully served the community for forty years retiring in October, 2019.
Don found his passion in flying and would become a licensed pilot and aircraft owner. He also loved riding motorcycles, reading many different genres of books, and building model cars and planes. Don was an honest, hardworking man with a kind heart. He had a steady, dependable presence about him that was comforting to all who knew him.
Don was a skilled mechanic and dedicated provider, both for his community and for his family. He would marry the love of his life, Connie in December, 1978. They adopted two children Kirsten and Adam to complete their family.
Don was deeply proud of his family, and his love for them was immeasurable. He is survived by his spouse Connie, children, Kirsten and Adam, grandchildren, Addison, Mason and Austen and his sister, Marie. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother.
He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his devotion as a husband, father, and grandfather but also as a man who always led by example, showing what it means to work hard, stand tall for what is important and care deeply for those you love.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the residence of Glen and Barb Huntingford, 7123 Beaver Valley Rd. in Chimacum. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life well lived and join us for a celebration barbeque.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes you to share your memories and stories of Don as a tribute to the joy he brought to so many.
Family and friends are invited to share memories of Don and sign the online guestbook.
