Donald F. “Don” Beem, age 87, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in The Inn at Northwood Village.
Born June 3, 1937, in Akron, he was a son of the late G. Edward and Garnet L. (Lee) Beem. Don graduated from Akron Kenmore High School, and, on July 25, 1959, was wed to the former Janice Faye Fischmann. The couple moved to Tuscarawas County’s Rush Township, raised three sons and shared 55 years of marriage prior to Janice’s passing on August 3, 2014. Don was trained as a machinist, and was employed for many years by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, from which he retired.
He was a devoted family man who loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. Travel was another favorite pastime. He attended the Rush Community Church of the Nazarene, and was a long-time member of (what is now) New Franklin Lodge 803 F. & A.M.
Don will be dearly missed by his son, Tyrone L. (Diane) Beem of Tuscarawas; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Beem Hermann; his granddaughter, Sarah N. Beem; his step-grandchildren; his nieces and nephews; his good friends, Robert “Okey” Whiting and George Manley; as well as his friends in Rush Township.
Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Janice, Don was preceded in death by his sons, Darrell R. and Blane A. Beem, and by his brother, David Beem.
Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. There will be no visitation or ceremony.
