Donald J. Booser, 81, of Hershey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at home surrounded by family. Born Thursday, March 25, 1943 in Hershey, he was the son of the late Jay Robert and Edith (Brunner) Booser. He was married 60 years to Helen (Blauch) Booser.
Don was a graduate of Lower Dauphin High School. After marrying in 1964, he and his wife entered voluntary service with Life Line Mission in San Francisco, CA. He engaged in various vocations over the years, including employment at Country Meadows Corporate Office, foster parenting, pastor of Signs of Love Chapel (providing services in Sign Language), and manager of a Christian Light Bookstore.
Always creative, Don had a knack for making beautiful things - artificial flower arrangements, wire trees, woven baskets, 3-D portrait collages. Don had a lifelong love of horses and said he grew up on the back of a horse. In his younger years, Don played the organ for church services. He loved pipe organ music and hymns, his favorite being "The Love of God." He loved family history and spent countless hours searching genealogy details, looking at tombstones, and putting together binders chock full of dates and family photos. He not only collected all available old family photos but himself had camera in hand at every occasion-click, click, click.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Kimberly Booser of Hershey, a son Kylan Booser and wife Margo of Ohio, three grandchildren: Ryan, Gavin (Maddi) and Hope, and a great granddaughter Parker, two sisters: Janet Dick and Deborah Bashore (Keith). He is survived by foster sons Ernest Wilcox (Lauren), Aaron Smith (Melinda) and grandchildren Landon and Lulah, and Antonio Carrero (Selena). Don was predeceased by a son Kevin Booser and a sister Marian Snyder.
The family expresses great appreciation to the caregivers at WellSpan Hospice for their warm and attentive care.
Service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Hershey Free Church Compassion Fund.
