Donald J. Hazelton, Sr., 81, of Scott Township, PA, died Friday morning, September 12, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, the former Debra Moran. They were married on June 3, 1981.
Born November 30, 1943 in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas Hazelton, Sr. and the late Emma McCabe Hazelton Thomas. He was a co-owner of the former Pat and Red's Tire Shop in Carbondale. Don later worked at Sandone Tire, Specialty Records and retired as an auto mechanic from A.J.'s Automotive in Justus.
Don enjoyed spending time at the casino and attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He cherished the time spent with his faithful companion, Sparkles.
The family would like to thank his family physician, Dr. Neal Davis and staff for their many years of care and the staff of Sacred Heart Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Don's final days.
He is survived by his children: Patricia McGuire, Chrystal Hazelton, Amanda Beader, Holly Hazelton, Donald Hazelton, Jr. and wife, Michele, Hayley Hazelton, Antonio Hazelton, William Hazelton, and Tiana Hazelton; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one brother: Thomas Hazelton, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother: Leonard Hazelton; and a sister: Grace Leese.
The funeral was held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA, officiated by Rev. Joseph Mosley, senior priest of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Frank Beader, Ashton Beader, Takota Beader, Austin Smith, Jayden Smith, Brian Gogas, Peter Gogas and Leonard Hazelton.
Viewing hours were held Monday, September 15, 2025 from 5-8 p.m.
