Donald Lee Hover, 95, of Enfield and Ellington, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1929 in Orange, MA, the son of the late Lee W. and Blanche E. (Richards) Hover. He was a 1947 graduate of Orange H.S. Then went to California for school at Northrup Aeronautical Engineering School and graduated in 1950. From there he went to work at L.S. Starrett in Athol, MA in the tool making program. Donald served in the Army National Guard for 5 years. From there he moved to Connecticut where he resided in Ellington for 46 years and in Enfield, while working at Hamilton Standard. Working in the aerospace industry, he also worked at Dynamic Controls in South Windsor as a manufacturing engineer from where he retired in 1994 as a manager in the machine shop and worked part-time at several jobs. He enjoyed camping and traveling in his motorhome, having made many trips out west and Alaska.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Eliza J. (Anthony) Hover, his six children: Gary Hover and his wife Diane of York, ME, Patricia Burrington of Ellington, CT, Nancy Batchelor of Windsor, CT, Kathy Rubera of East Hartford, CT, Kelly Greer and her husband Kevin of Teaneck, NJ, and Michelle Hover of Norwich, CT. His five grandchildren: Robert Hover, Jonathan Hover, Walter Grohs, Kristin Burrington, and Carly Greer, his two great grandchildren Ainsley Hover and Callum Hover. He also is survived by a sister Barbara of California, as well as several nieces, nephews, and his best camping friends Duane and Kathy Noto.
Relatives and friends may join his family during calling hours on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 9:30 – 11:00 am followed by a Prayer Service at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Interment with military honors will take place in the Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168
