Donald C. Limberg, age 84, of Marinette, passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2025. He was born April 7, 1940, in Chicago to Walter and Alice Limberg.
Don graduated from Marinette High School in 1958 and immediately began a lengthy career at Scott Paper Company in Marinette. In 1963, he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for a year.
After his military service, Don returned to Scott Paper Company, where he worked for a total of 34 years before retiring early. During his time at Scott Paper, Don earned his Associate Degree in Supervisory Management from Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute. After Scott Paper, Don embarked on a second career at Shopko in Marinette, where he enjoyed working the garden center and greenhouse during the summer months.
Don met Judith Jaeger in 1961, and seven years later were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in West Bend on October 19, 1968. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past October.
Don actively served his community. In his younger years, Don frequently assisted Marinette County as a diver in underwater recovery. Don also participated in the Zion Lutheran Church Community where he held positions on the Zion Church Council and various church committees throughout his years. He served as Supervisor 2 for the Town of Porterfield, a position he held for the past 19 years. He also served on the Northland Lutheran Retirement Community Board.
Don enjoyed spending time outdoors and tinkering with his many unfinished projects. He enjoyed watching football on Sunday afternoons and reminiscing with former classmates at regular monthly breakfast club gatherings. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Elsa and Sophie and would attend their events whenever possible.
Don is survived by his wife, Judy; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Emily Limberg; two granddaughters, Elsa and Sophie Limberg; sister, Janice Peterson; in-laws, Bill and Ruth Jaeger and Veronica Jaeger; nieces, Laura Bertrand, Sue Clement, and Juliet Jaeger; a nephew, Jim Peterson; along with many great nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alice Limberg, and other family members, Wilbert and Julietta Jaeger, Catherine Jaeger, Lester Peterson, Richard Jaeger, Kenneth Jaeger and Paula Doyle.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Marinette, Wisconsin on Saturday, January 25, 2025. A funeral service will immediately follow.
