Donald "Ray" McCarty, 84, of Weatherford, passed away Wednesday evening, June 21, 2017 in Weatherford.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 10 A.M., on Monday, June 26, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Burial will follow at Peaster Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 until 5 P.M., Sunday afternoon, June 25, at the funeral home.
Ray was born September 15, 1932, in Parker County, Texas, to Norman and Adele McCarty. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ray married Mary Sparkman on June 7, 1957 and together they had three children. Ray owned and operated Southwest Glass and Radiator in Weatherford for many years. Remembered as being a Godly man, Ray was a member of the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church. Ray's personality could range from "John Wayne to Billy Graham." Ray had a passion for gardening. Most of all, Ray loved his family, his wife and children, and cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; children, Donald Glenn (Becky) McCarty, Richard Thomas (Lindy) McCarty, and Cheryl Denise (Monty) Haney; grandchildren, Heather, Nathan, Warren, Crystalle, Tara, Casey, and Courtney; 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn (Frank) Chylmanski, Sandy (Dick) Bonneau, and Anita Sparks; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Bragg and Norma Stafford.
