Donald James Novarro
November 25, 1963 – January 3, 2025
Donald James Novarro, 61, of Crystal Lake, passed away on January 3, 2025. Born on November 25, 1963, Don was a proud Desert Storm veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. He carried a fierce pride in his service, as well as the hidden scars that many veterans bear.
Donnie was a man of many passions and quirks that made him unforgettable. He loved candy, fishing with his girls, building fires, the Chicago Bears, shooting off fireworks, muscle cars—especially his beloved ‘72 Chevelle and his dad’s classic ‘55 Bel Air—his three kitties, pushing boundaries, making kids smile, and making everyone laugh. He had a talent for being unapologetically himself, embracing life with a bold spirit that left others smiling and shaking their heads in equal measure.
Knowing time was limited, Don and his wife, Melanie, made a bold decision to sell all of their belongings, buy an RV, and hit the road. Together, with their three kitties, they lived full-time in breathtaking locations across the country, creating memories that few are lucky enough to experience.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Henry Harders, and his nephew, Sean Novarro. He is survived by his loving wife, Melanie; his two beautiful daughters, Nicolette (Patrick) and Stephanie (Shane), of whom he was immensely proud; his mother; his brother and sisters; and his many nieces and nephews.
Despite life’s challenges, Don will be remembered for his resilience, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. Per his request, there will be no service.
May he rest in peace, finding the solace he sought and the love that surrounds him still.
