Donald P. Shaw Jr.

Donald P. Shaw Jr., 83, of Hookstown, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on November 8, 1941, in Youngstown, OH, to the late Donald Shaw Sr. and Lulu Knight Shaw. Don was a proud graduate of Chester High School Class of 1959 and a standout athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball, and football. He was notably signed by the Chicago Cubs and earned the nickname "Strike Out King." Following his sports career, he made a successful transition into the workforce, retiring from both US Airways and South Side Garage.

He had a strong appreciation for the outdoors, engaging in hunting, golfing, and mowing the lawn. His greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family. Don was known for his kindness, sharp sense of humor, and generous spirit. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda Sue Belich, whom he married on September 16, 1961. His legacy continues through his children: Todd Shaw, Mark Shaw (Renata), Heather Almasy (Ted), and Mendy Shaw (David McElhaney); his grandchildren: Erika Paris (Kyle McCreary), Nicholas Paris, Nathaniel Paris, Halie Almasy, Sara Almasy, and Ryan Shaw; his great granddaughter, Aliza Dawn McCreary); sister, Bonnie Parsons and his brother-in-law, George Belich (Caryl).

Don was preceded in death by his brother, David Shaw and sister, Alice Stivason.

A celebration of Don's life will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Arner Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Millcreek Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with the family on Sunday at the funeral home from 12:30 to 4:00 PM.
