Betty J. Mitchell, a wonderful mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice House, surrounded by family. Born on April 21, 1938. Betty was the daughter of Edith (Tarr) and Robert Brodmerkel, and stepmother, Betty (McCoy) Brodmerkel. She graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown in 1956. She earned a nursing degree from Sewickley and worked at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She was an active member of Community Bible Church in Aliquippa. Preceded in death by all of her parents, three brothers (Joe Brodmerkel, Wray Brodmerkel, and Gary Irwin), and her sister, Dolores Ross. Betty is survived by her four children. Coleen (Randy Smith) of Murrells Inlet, SC; her son, Michael of Macedonia, OH; Kelli (Bob Heberle), and Richard (Heather Mitchell), both of Georgetown. She also leaves behind her five cherished grandchildren, Robby Heberle (fiancé, Rachael Melton), Alexis Heberle, Maura Heberle, Braeden Mitchell, and Emma Mitchell. Also surviving are her sister (Susan Brodmerkel) and four brothers (Ronnie Irwin, Robert Brodmerkel, Clay Brodmerkel, and Dean Brodmerkel, along with their spouses). Betty was a devoted baseball fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates- win or lose. She was happiest spending time with family. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Good Samaritan Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford. Friends and family are welcome for the graveside service at Grandview Cemetery in Florence, PA, on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00AM.
