DONALD RAY SIMS "DONNIE" WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 20, 1954. HE WAS THE FIRST CHILD OF THE LATE TYLER LEE SR. AND CLEO BOLES SIMS.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS BROTHERS EDWARD LEE JENKINS, TYLER LEE SIMS JR.. AND MORRIS SIMS, AND HIS SISTER JANICE SIMS. DONALD CONFESSED CHRIST AT AN EARLY AGE UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF REV. D.A. JONES. HE JOINED THE CHOIR AND BECAME AN ORDAINED DEACON IN APRIL 2003 UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF PASTOR GREEN. HE GRADUATED FROM SOUTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL.
HE MET THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE. EMMA, IN THE SUMMER OF 1975. THEY UNITED IN MARRIAGE ON JULY 4th FOUR CHILDREN WERE BORN IN THIS UNION. DONALD LEFT TO CHERISH HIS MEMORIES: WIFE, EMMA SIMS, (3) CHILDREN, SHADONNA YOUNG (ALLEN), AARON SIMS, AND TERENCE SIMS. (5) GRANDCHILDREN. AVION YOUNG, DEVIN YOUNG, DASON YOUNG. ZURI SIMS, AND JOURNI SIMS. HIS SISTER DEBORAH GREEN (E.C.), LARRY SIMS, JAMES SIMS (META), AND SISTER-IN-LAW SELVIA, SPEARS (JOHN). JAMES GREEN (VERNIE), BROTHER-IN-LAWS FRANK, ANTHONY, AND MICHAEL FRIERSON, AUNT GLADYS BOLES, AND UNCLE CHARLIE DEMMING, GODCHILDREN CAITLYN JONES, CHAISE JONES, KIYA BLACK, WILLIE LEFTRIDGE, ANGELIQUE ABLE, SYBIL BAILEY, AND A HOST OF NEPHEWS, NIECES, AND FRIENDS.
