Donna Buscemi, beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend to many, passed away

peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, in her 84th year. We celebrate her life and

mourn the passing ofher fun-loving, kind, and gentle spirit.

Donna was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and earned her high school

diploma at Lafayette High School. It was at Lafayette where she met her sweetheart

and the love of her life, Joseph. The couple were happily married for 64 years.

After earning her diploma, Donna was employed at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in

Manhattan. Later, she was a devoted mother, housewife, PTA leader at N.Y. Public

School 226, and den mother for the Cub Scouts. After moving to Long Island, Donna

worked as an office manager for 15 years.

Donna lived her last 32 years in Chesapeake, VA, where she had a large circle of

friends. She never lost her New York attitude or the accent that went with it. She

enjoyed volunteering for political causes and also became an avid world traveler.

Donna is survived by her husband, Joseph; her devoted son Charles and his life

partner Brian Haney, her sister-in-law Teresa Bropson, and her nieces and nephews

Frank, Susan, Elaine, Kenneth, Charlene, Jeanine, Nanci, Charles, and Laurie. Her

close friends, Dee and Tom, and her caretaker, Glenda, were very dear to her,

especially during her illness.

Donna was a confidante and second mother to many other friends and family

members. She will be greatly missed by all of those touched by her life.

Visitation for her family and friends will be held on Saturday 9/13 (2pm to 5pm) and

Sunday 9/14 (9am to 11am and 2pm to 5pm) at Oman Funeral Home, Chesapeake,

VA.
