Ms. Donna L Copeland, age 93, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025 at her home in Mena, AR. She was born June 7, 1932 to parents Claude A. Chandler Sr. and Sarah C. (Newman) Chandler in Bond, MS.
Donna was one of nine children and grew up in hard times. In the 1950s she moved to and met her husband Robert A Copeland in New Orleans, LA. They moved to Houston, TX to start their lives together. She was a Southwestern Bell switchboard operator for many years and also helped run the family business. Donna and husband Robert retired to Alum Bridge, WV, but she definitely didn't stop working.
Donna believed in living life to its fullest. She loved to cook, take care of others, and surround herself with the beauty of nature; ultimately bringing her to Mena. Her most intense hobbies were fishing, stained glass working and traveling. Her explorations include, but are not limited to, Switzerland, Russia, Southeast Asia, East-Central Africa, South America, North-Western U.S., and numerous Colorado River rafting trips. She had many stories to tell and never traveled without a fishing pole.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, her brother and sisters, her parents and several other family members. She is survived by daughter Karen Copeland Smith and husband Roger Smith in Mena, daughter Cherie Copeland and grand-daughter Bridgette Copeland in TorC, NM, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services held per Donna's wishes. Her final resting place will be in Weston, WV beside husband Robert and cherished sister Wanda. May all rest in peace.
