Donna Marie Hurst Rezabek, age 43, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lake Butler on October 28, 2024. Born on October 14, 1981, in Lake City, Florida, Donna's spirit was as bright as her warm smile and her heart was filled with love for all those encountered.
A proud graduate of Union County High School in 2000 Donna continued her pursuit of knowledge by attending Sante Fe College and was currently enrolled in UMA, working diligently toward becoming a medical administrative assistant. Her commitment to education and self-improvement echoed her nurturing nature; she would do anything for anyone, exemplifying the true essence of a caregiver.
Donna's interests were as diverse as her talents. She found joy in spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing, boating, or visiting the shooting range. A lover of the arts, she pursued photography and cherished trips to St. Augustine to marvel at the lighthouse and the beach. Animals held a special place in her heart, paralleling her fascination with marine biology. A passionate reader, her favorite author, Stephen King, captivated her imagination, and she even named her firstborn from a cherished book. Donna also enjoyed watching the movie My Girl, but only the first as the sequel could never measure up to the original.
Family was everything to Donna. She is survived by her loving children, Darion (Gabby) Hurst, Asher Rose, Myra Rose, Preston Romero, and Isabella Romero. Each of them was a source of joy that illuminated her life. Donna’s fiancé, Philip Romero, stood by her side as a cherished partner in both love and life. She leaves behind her devoted parents, Don Hurst (Jean) and Betty Hurst, along with her brothers, Bobby, William, and Albert Finley, and her sister, Becky Smallwood (Jason Pittman), will remember her for her caring demeanor and the laughter they shared.
Her legacy of kindness and her unwavering support for her loved ones will continue to inspire all who were lucky enough to know her.
A Celebration of Donna's life will be held at the Lake Butler Community Center on January 18, 2025.
