Donnie Lee "Gran" Cason, aged 99, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on May 26, 1926, to Manny and Ellie (Bell) Stratton. Throughout her career, she worked as a cafeteria manager for the Duval County school system. Donnie was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, with a heartfelt passion for cooking, sewing, her family, and her church.
She is survived by her daughters, Grace Yvonne Cason Lloyd and Margaret Ann Cason Myers, and her granddaughters Sandra Robinson, with her children Zachary, Bree, and Justin, and Regina Robinson, with her children Matthew and Jackson. Her grandsons include Greg, Jeff, and Michael Nolan, along with their children and grandchildren.
Donnie was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husbands Eddie Cason and Bobby Weatherford, and her daughter, Hazel Jean Cason. Her siblings included brothers Buddy and Tom, and sisters Ruby, Ellemur, Mary Louise, Mildred, and Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, September 5, 2025 with Pastor Steve Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time.
She truly exemplified the saying of a life well-lived, and her life can be summed up by a few "F" words: Food, Family, Friends, and Fun.
