Dora Martinez Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dora Martinez at the age of 75 on October 7th, 2025. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Dora was born in Raymondville, Texas on November 3, 1949. She is the eldest daughter to Bernadino (Ben) and Fannie Adame Cavazos. On January 1, 1966, Dora married her lifelong love Fred, and the two were inseparable. They were truly united in marriage and built a beautiful, blessed life together as a true partnership based on love and respect for one another. As a young military family, they lived in New Orleans, Austin, and ultimately settled in Cedar Park, Texas, in 1977, with their young children Fred Jr and Nora. Biloxi, Mississippi, and New Orleans would always be a favorite place to visit. In 1977, Fred built Dora their forever home in Cedar Park, and she created a welcoming, comfortable, loving space for their family to thrive for many years to come. From the lush flowers and landscaped exterior to the smallest details inside, this home has her special touch on everything. There was always room at her table, and she was always ready to prepare her guests one of her special margaritas, should they desire one.
Dora was a perfectionist in all that she did, and nothing deserved less than the utmost attention to detail. She noticed the small things, to her they mattered, and she approached everything with complete effort. She lived life her way, did things her way, and we are all left knowing and trying to live up to the high bar of "Dora's way to do things". She was a strong woman in every aspect. No complaints, just a genuine, quiet, strong will to carry on. She went with the course of life, not against it, and she rode the high road in every way.
Dora was always put together. You never saw her ruffled or bothered. She was a private person, never seeking attention, nor the spotlight in life, and she was always the constant, steady, caring voice of reason and calm.
Dora had a career for many years at EMI, where she built lasting friendships, long into retirement. While she enjoyed work and took pride in all she did, her family was her everything. Her greatest moments of happiness were spent with them and expressing her love for them in everything she did. Some of her favorite moments included going out to dinner with Fred, enjoying a good margarita and fajita plate with her sisters, playing scratch off tickets and bingo, and watching her grandsons play baseball. Vacations often included a visit to a casino, or trips to see family. Dora loved the New Orleans Saints football team and Drew Brees. She incorporated elegant touches of the Saints' Fleur-De-Lis in her home and always had matching athletic wear to support her favorite team. Her family will hold onto the countless beautiful memories together.
Dora will be greatly missed by her adoring husband Fred of 59 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Fred Martinez Jr (Dina), and Nora Martinez Pruett (Clint), and she will be deeply missed by her grandsons Carson Pruett and Justin Martinez. Wonderful memories of Dora will be forever cherished by her siblings Beatrice Hernandez (Ramon), Lucie Hernandez (Ismael), Rudy Cavazos (LaDae), Mary Gonzalez (Bobby), David Cavazos, Linda Cavazos, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents Bernadino (Ben) and Fannie Adame Cavazos, and brother Robert Cavazos.
The family would like to thank Texas Oncology and Gentiva Hospice for the care and compassion they provided.
To honor and celebrate Dora's life, a Visitation will take place Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Beck Funeral Home (Cedar Park) at 6:00 PM, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (Cedar Park) on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Dora will be laid to rest at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
In memory of Dora, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
