Doris J. Stafford Hunsucker, 86, of Rogersville, our beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 13, 2025. The world lost a bright light with the passing of Doris, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend.
She was born on April 3, 1939 in Calloway County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Merritt and Lucille (Hayden) Youngblood.
Doris graduated as Valedictorian at Rogersville High School in 1957 and went on to complete one year of business school in Springfield, Missouri. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ until her health prevented her attendance. She was a business owner and a dedicated mom and homemaker. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and love, especially for her family.
She married her beloved husband Mace Stafford on December 2, 1957, and together they raised three daughters. After Mace passed away in 1999, Doris met and fell in love with Samuel Hunsucker and they were married on July 24, 2007, and enjoyed 18 years of marriage full of love and devotion for her new blended family.
Known for her warm personality, a smile for everyone she met, kindness when helping those in need, and her competitive spirit, particularly in Sequence, softball and bowling. She found joy in singing, music (especially when going to the Oldfield Opry), and antiquing.
She was a source of endless love and strength, and her legacy will endure through the memories she created and the people she touched.
She is survived by her loving husband, Sam; three daughters, Diana Todd, Dina Greer and her husband Steve, and Denise St. Clair and her husband Ron; two step-daughters, Cynthia Gilmore and her husband Thomas, and Martha Marie Pinkerton; two step-sons, Christopher Hunsucker and his wife Carol, and William Hunsucker; five grandchildren, Shevelle Lumley and her husband Seth, Jessica Pimentel and her husband Paul, Mark Massey and his wife J.J., Nicholas Greer, and Dylan Greer; eight step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Evan, Kieran, Laken, and River; and several step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Bowen; and many other relatives and friends.
