Doris Kent passed away at home on August 15th, 2025, her 75th birthday. She was diagnosed with cancer in June 2025. She was on in-home hospice through Season's Hospice.
She was born on August 15th, 1950 to Alvin and Pauline Rentschler in Havre, MT. Her family moved to Lewiston, MT when she was 12 and she graduated from high school in Lewiston, MT. She graduated from Trinity Bible College in North Dakota. Doris worked at Samaritan Bethany nursing home from 1981 to 2016.
She married Ronald Kent on June 24th, 1989, at Rochester Assembly of God church. Doris and Ronald's only child, Suzanne, was born in December of 1990. She enjoyed gardening (flowers, vegetables, and fruit) and going to the Rochester Athletic Club. She was a member of the Rochester Assembly of God church. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune game show on television. She enjoyed keeping up with MN sports (ex. Twins and Vikings) too. She loved animals (ex. bird watching) and family pets (dogs, cats, and fish) over the years too. She enjoyed going on afternoon drives. She really enjoyed drinking coffee with her breakfast, which was usually either a Glazer donut from Kwik Trip or toast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Pauline Rentschler, and her brother, Alvin Rentschler.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Kent, her daughter Suzanne Basch (Nathanael), and her sister Patricia Redekopp.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Rochester Assembly, 4240 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
