Doris Lucas, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on May 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 97 years old.
Born Doris Roberts on February 21, 1928, to Clarence and Leoma Roberts in a humble cabin in Ava, Missouri, Doris was a shining example of faith, strength, and devotion. She grew up in Fair Grove, Missouri, where she graduated from Fair Grove High School and laid the foundation for a life rooted in family and community.
On April 25, 1946, Doris married the love of her life, Jack Lucas – a date made even more special as it was also Jack's birthday. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering dedication. They raised four children – Don, Michael, Linda, and Debbie – instilling in them the same values of kindness, resilience, and faith that Doris embodied throughout her life.
Once her children were grown, Doris found joy and purpose working as a lunch lady for Fair Grove Schools, where she brought warmth and kindness to generations of students. She was also a founding member of the Community Baptist Church in Fair Grove, where she worshipped faithfully and contributed wholeheartedly to the life of the church. Her faith was strong and steady, a cornerstone of her life that uplifted those around her.
More than anything, Doris loved her family. She was a constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, offering care, guidance, and endless love. Her home was always open, her heart always full, and her hands always busy doing for others.
Doris will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her generous heart, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the family that will forever carry her love with them.
Doris is survived by daughters Linda Lucas and Debbie Stillwagon (Rick), son Michael Lucas (Leeanna), grandchildren Glen Lucas (Tammy), Michael Lucas Jr. (Christy), Lisa Alfermann (Joe), Robert Koester (Lisa), Steven Koester, Denise Eagleburger, Robby Eagleburger, and Audrey Jones (Raf) as well as many many great and great-great grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by both her parents, loving husband Jack, and one son Don Lucas.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Services will be held in Fair Grove, Missouri, with details to follow.

My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Doris was a very sweet lady. She will be remembered by many. I seen her several times in the last few years setting on her front porch in the summer listening to our cowboy church service at the mill. I remember when her and my mom and Jo would meet at Jo´s every week. They were quit the ladies.
RIP sweet Doris. Love, prayers and hugs to you all.
