Doris Millikan, 93, of Anderson, passed away on February 24, 2023, in Noblesville, IN. She was born on June 5, 1929, in South Bend, IN.
Doris graduated from Elwood High School.
She worked for Indiana Bell Telephone for many years. Doris was a member of Anderson First United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Anderson Public Library and St. John's Hospital. Doris was a beautiful storyteller and was a family historian.
Doris married Bob Millikan on August 1, 1969, and considered their 24 years of marriage to be some of the happiest of her life. Doris was a woman of gratitude and was keenly aware of her blessings in life.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Millikan, on March 6, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ernie Millikan, and her grandsons, Todd Millikan and Terry Millikan, her birth parents, George W. and Charlene (See) Miller, her adopted parents, Lowell and Hazel Cochran, her brothers, Donald Miller, George Miller, and Harold Miller, and her sister, Phyllis Miller-Toy.
Doris is survived by her sons, Mike Millikan and Haldon Millikan; her daughter-in-law, Anne Millikan; her grandchildren, Julie Setmeyer (Walter), Jon Millikan (Sarah), Nick Millikan; her great-grandchildren, Millie Setmeyer, Sam Setmeyer, Meg Setmeyer, Lily Millikan, and Colton Millikan; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at The Community Room at Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with visitation from 12:00-1:00 P.M. There will be a private family burial in Cicero Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson Public Library, 111 East 12th Street, Anderson, IN 46016 or American Legion Veterans and Children Foundation (legion.org/vcf).
