Doris was the heart of her family, a devoted wife to her late husband Melvin, whom she met in a roller skating rink in Kalamazoo. Their love story began shortly after Melvin returned from World War II, leading to their marriage on September 2, 1949. Together, they built a life filled with joy and raised five wonderful children.
A proud graduate of Delton Kellogg High School in 1946, Doris dedicated her early years to raising her family. Later, she joined the workforce as a lunch lady at Gull Lake schools, where she was beloved by students and staff alike for her kindness and nurturing spirit.
Doris's interests were as rich and varied as the life she led. She was an avid reader of romantic novels, finding joy and adventure within their pages. Her love for word searches kept her mind sharp, while her hands were rarely still, as she was skilled in quilting, crocheting, embroidery and knitting, crafts she mastered alongside the many other skills she acquired over the years. Doris also had a passion for the outdoors; camping around Michigan and Minnesota was a favored family activity, as was spending time in her garden. She was born and raised on a family farm in Delton, where her childhood was filled with fond memories, including those with her pony, Roxy.
Doris is survived by her children: Nathan L. Sincler, Fern M. (Bill) Young, Sandra L. (Bruce) Irwin, Ben L. (Virginia M.) Sincler; grandchildren: Sarah (Nathaniel) Duperon, Joseph Young, Jeard (Buenafe) Holroyd, Casey Holroyd, Shawn Guess, Michael (Bre) Guess, Lisa (Bryan) Geairn, Kristi (Brett) Fender, Nathan Hartley; 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; son, Floyd L. Sincler.
Per Doris' wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Prairieville Township Hall. Please visit www.williamsgoresfuneral.com to share a memory or leave a condolence message for Doris' family.
