Doris Emma "Krauss" Zimmerman

Doris Emma (Krauss) Zimmerman passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA at the age of 89. Doris was born in Trenton, New Jersey on June 18, 1936, and was a lifetime resident of Langhorne. Doris attended Neshaminy schools and graduated from Langhorne High School in 1953.

Doris and Earl's marriage was a romance for the ages. They married at a young age after first meeting at a canteen. They described their courtship as magical. Earl would occasionally pick Doris up for dates on a tractor. Their love and devotion endured through 68 years of marriage. Doris was a homemaker in every positive sense of the word. She raised five children in a loving home where the days were filled with adventure. Gathering around the kitchen table was for stories, meals, wine and laughter. Doris' happiness was driven by her love of God, family and home. Earl often reflected that it takes a good mother to make a house a home. And that she did! Doris will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She cherished her grandchildren more than words could express and attended all their activities.

Doris filled her days with gardening, driving the tractor, cooking, crafting, sewing, and doting on the children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Langhorne United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Forward Look group, Bible study and rummage sales. Doris was a member of the Order of the Amaranth and the Four Lanes End Garden Club. She was a Girl Scout leader. Doris also worked at Styer's Orchards where she was affectionately known as the candy apple lady.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Earl R. Zimmerman Jr. to whom she was married to for 68 years; her mother, Dorothy (Kuintzle) Krauss; her father, Arthur Krauss; her grandmother, Emma (Hahn) Kuintzle; her brother, Robert Krauss; and her sister, Helene (Krauss) Kozlowski. She is survived by her five children: Chuck (Helene) Zimmerman, Connie (Ed) Doyle, Amy (Kevin) Transue, Robert (Tiffannie) Zimmerman, and Mary Zimmerman; as well as ten grandchildren: Brad Transue (Whitney), Katelyn Transue (Cody), Hannah Zimmerman, Zachary (Poorva) Zimmerman, Emily (Kevin) Bray, Ethan Transue (Veronica), Rebecca Doyle (Corey), Ryan Doyle (Allison), and Emma (Matthew) and Robbie Zimmerman (Gianna). Doris lived to meet her two great grandchildren, Atticus Bray and Veera Zimmerman. Doris was also preceded in death by two beloved lifelong friends, Roy and Effie Flack.

Family and friends are invited to Doris' Life Celebration on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, 378 South Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047 and again on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Langhorne United Methodist Church, 301 E. Maple Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. Her Memorial Service will follow at 12:00pm. Inurnment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be private.
