Dorothy Brown, loving known as "Dot," passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on May 4, 1928, in Carmel, NY to Milton and Mildred Ross, Dorothy's life was a tapestry of family, faith, and artistic passion that touched everyone she knew.
Dorothy's laughter and warmth were the cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted member of the Ludingtonville Baptist Church, where her great sense of humor was as much a part of her as her unwavering faith. Her involvement in the church community was a significant aspect of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her church family.
She was also a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Carmel. Her favorite time was after the parade to go down to the pit spend time with her friends and have a hot dog and a beer.
A woman of many talents, Dorothy's hands were rarely still, as she found joy and purpose in quilting and various arts and crafts. Her creations were not only beautiful but also a testament to her dedication and skill. Music was another of Dorothy's passions. She played the guitar with a gentle finesse that could only be matched by the love she poured into every note.
Dorothy's vivacity was evident in her active lifestyle. She relished the challenge of puzzles, engaging her mind and spirit in the intricate dance of problem-solving. This zest for life was infectious, and she was often the catalyst for laughter and joy in any gathering.
Above all, Dorothy valued her family. She is survived by her daughters, Linda, Dinah, Eileen, Rhonda and son Frank. Also, her twelve adoring grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her love for them knew no bounds, and it is a legacy that will continue to flourish in their hearts. Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers Elmer, Richard, William, and her sisters Jean and Helen, with whom she now joins in eternal rest.
Those who knew Dorothy would describe her as creative, passionate, and loving-a true embodiment of these words. Her life was a vivid portrait of love, artistry, and devotion that will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
As we bid farewell to Dorothy Brown, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that will continue to inspire and resonate within the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
A private cremation will take place.
A Celebration of Life Memorial for Dorothy will be held by the family at a later date.
