Dorothy (Machado) Costa, age 93 of Taunton, passed away on July 8, 2025 at Marian Manor.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gilbert Costa.

Born in Taunton, Dorothy was the daughter of the late John and Deolinda (Costa) Machado.

Before retiring, Mrs. Costa was employed with Raytheon as a material handler. Prior to working at Raytheon, she worked with HL Green Retail as well as Armor Bronze in Taunton and Dighton.

Dorothy graduated from Taunton High School class of 1950. She was on the reunion committee for many years.

Dorothy liked to travel, liked to play bingo at various locations, going to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Dorothy was also a member of the Red Hatter Society.

Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Scott Costa and his wife Jean of Taunton, grandmother of Amanda Mason and her husband Harold of Fall River and Lauren Costa and her companion Alan of Taunton, great-grandmother of Christian and Victoria Mason, nieces Leslie Martin and husband Les of Taunton and Linda Jones and her husband Tim of VT. She was also the sister of Natalie Emond of Taunton. 

Her family would like to thank her extended family of the Marian Manor for the care that was given to her as well as Compassionate Care Hospice.

Dorothy’s funeral with visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital in Dorothy’s memory, would be deeply appreciated.
