Janet Press

Janet Marie (Almeida) Press, aged 67 of Attleboro, passed away on June 24, 2025, in Brockton, MA. She was born on November 15, 1957, in Taunton, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late Antone Almeida and Hazel (Lawry) Almeida. Janet was a devoted mother, Nana, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her spirited personality.
Janet graduated from Taunton High School in 1975, before beginning her early career as a secretary at Balfour and Texas Instruments. She later dedicated herself to the Attleboro Public Schools, working in the cafeterias from 1993 until 2021, primarily at Wamsutta Middle School. Janet also worked part-time at Dairy Carousel convenience store for several years.
Janet was a true social butterfly, striking up conversations everywhere she went and talking to anyone who would listen. It was unusual to go anywhere with her and not have her run into somebody she knew. Her hobbies included playing the lottery, visiting casinos, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was especially committed to her children's activities during their younger years, always present and actively participating. She loved being a Nana and her granddaughters meant the world to her.
Janet is survived by her daughter Jennifer Fedele and her husband Shawn of East Bridgewater; her daughter Tracey Gardner and her husband Shaun of Attleboro; granddaughters Callie and Ella Gardner of Attleboro; sister Deborah Araujo and her husband Al of Taunton; brother Antone Almeida Jr and his wife Mija of Taunton; sister-in-law Janet Almeida of East Taunton; brother-in-law Richard Hinton of Taunton; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Kenneth Almeida, and sister Joan Hinton.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, staff, and friends that cared for her during her final years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck St., Attleboro, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in the St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St.,, Attleboro, MA. Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton, MA.
