Canandaigua – Dorothy (May) Dils, age 92, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024. She is survived by five children, William Dils, Deborah (Thomas) Bogino, Katherine (Brian) Cameron, Sharon (Mark) Smith and David (Theresa) Dils; ten grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon, Johnathan, Jessica, Shane (Lexi), Teddy, Marcus, Jake, David and Abigail; sister, Jacqueline (Martin) Mounts. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Dils in 2022; grandson, Zachary Cameron in 2014; and sister, Marilyn Rogers.
Dorothy was born and raised in Rochester and was the daughter of William and Lillian (Garrison) May. She attended Rochester schools and later took some college courses. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker who had a strong faith. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Dorothy was affectionately called 'Gigi' by her grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held Thursday, October 24, at 11am, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be with her husband at New York State Veterans Cemetery-Finger Lakes, in Romulus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lima Christian School, 1574 Rochester St., Lima, NY 14485 or Golisano Children's Hospital, 300 E. River Rd., PO Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com.
