Dorothy Mae Price Holt, age 93, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2023, at Brookdale Jackson Oaks, Jackson, TN. She was born on April 3, 1930, in Beech Bluff, TN. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Daisy Mitchell Price. Dorothy was a loved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Janice (Irby) Coleman of Trenton, TN and Dr. M. Kenneth (Lynn) Holt of Alexandria, LA; her grandchildren: Laurie (Cyp) Desouza, Capt. John C. (Jennifer) Coleman, Matt (Stephanie) Coleman, April (Antonio) Simpson, Mitch (Elisa) Holt, Marleigh (Will) Parrish; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by one sister, Faye Price Luttrell, a sister-in-law, Shirley Price, a brother, James Edward (Jane) Price, and a brother-in-law, Arliss Green.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth H. Holt; her two brothers, William Franklin Price and Thomas Ray Price; her brother-in-law, John Luttrell; and her sister, Doris Price Green.
Dorothy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson, TN for over sixty years. She held many positions in the church and participated in many organizations also. She will be remembered most for her hard work with the adult choir, adult handbells, Ladies’ ensemble, Merry Makers, quilting and craft groups. Dorothy always enjoyed Southern Gospel music, especially Bill Gaither groups. Dorothy loved the Union Bulldogs where she worked in the bookstore until she retired. Another favorite past-time of Dorothy was working 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite place to travel was the Smokey Mountains. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends, and her unwavering faith in God and our country.
SERVICES: A service celebrating the life of Dorothy Price Holt will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, in the Chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until the service time at 12:00 noon at Arrington Funeral Directors.
