Dorothy Ellen Jira, age 95, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. Born Dorothy Ellen Thorpe on August 29, 1929, she was the loving daughter of William E. and Mary K. (Morris) Thorpe. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Clarence F. Jira, a proud U.S. Army WWII Veteran (passed 2011). She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Smith (Don) and Carole Olsen (Bob). Dot's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Kathleen E. Bollinger (Daniel), Susan A. Mayor (James), and Sharon L. King (Bill). She cherished her role as a grandmother, "Gram" to Jessica Webb (Matt), Jamie Mayor (Marissa), Zachary Bollinger (Katie), Brittany King, and Lauryn King. "Gigi" was truly blessed by her great-grandchildren: Seth, Claire, Madeline, and Audrey, living for the moments she shared with them. She was always traveling between Ohio, Arizona, and Florida to be with all the kids. Dot had a zest for life, finding happiness in simple pleasures. She loved vacations and the beach, and her hands were often busy with cross-stitch and crochet. A fan of mysteries, she enjoyed reading and watching them, as well as playing puzzles and, of course, sweets. Dorothy's warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will hold private services to celebrate Dorothy's life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributing to your favorite organization in Dorothy's memory. Private Family Service.
