Dorothy (aka Dottie) Joyce Lehman was born September 28, 1934, at home in Fayette County, Texas, the only daughter of Adella (Hertel) and Edward A. Dittrich.
Following moves by the family to San Antonio, she graduated from Breckenridge High School. She was described to be a shy youngster; but was an independent and free-thinking child. She met Gerald (Jerry) W. Lehman in Junior High and they were a pair from then on. Dottie and Jerry married on June 6, 1953, the week after she graduated high school, and they spent the next 69 years together.
Dottie's life involved numerous activities include that of a homemaker, bookkeeper, mother, and supporting the family activities. She was involved in the San Antonio Women's Association, the Lions Club of Kirby, Chili Cookoffs, and helping to run the family business - Lehman Glass Company.
She and Jerry started their glass business in 1958 out of their house on Aransas Street in San Antonio. They grew the company, moving to Kirby, Texas in 1966. Dottie served as the office manager, bookkeeper, and CFO. Along with the business needs, she and Jerry raised four girls and were involved with all of their activities.
She also was deeply involved with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Weight Watchers. Obviously overcoming the shy personality, she once had in high school, Dottie was a determined individual, always seeking those interesting challenges, and pushed others to be better individuals.
Her hobbies, as time allowed, included sewing, trivia, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and reading (and reading, and yes, reading!)
Dottie treasured her family and friends, and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed children and loved to watch them grow, learn, and play.
Dottie passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 88 years of age. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Dittrich; sons-in-law, Russell McCombs and Edgar Klug. Dottie is survived by her loving husband of over 69 years Jerry Lehman; daughters, Deborra McCombs, Valerie Mick husband Richard, Adrienne Meyer husband Winston, and Delanie Klug; grandchildren, Laura Mick-Valdez, Tabitha Garrett husband Kevin, Ashley Savage husband Ryan, Sharee DeFriese husband Colby, Jason Klug wife Katherine; great-grandchildren, Eric Castle, Miranda Castle, Josiah Valdez, Josephina Valdez, Vivian Garrett, Kenshin Garrett, Donovan Savage, Cassy DeFriese, Callen DeFriese, Landon Klug, and Marshall Klug; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
