Dorothy Nicole "Nicky" Moffett-Gex, 45, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on May 5th, 2024.
Nicky was born in Oklahoma City on December 27th, 1978, to Morris Moffett and Chere Kelley. She aspired to become a teacher at a very young age and always excelled in academics. Nicky graduated from Putnam City High School in 1997 and achieved a bachelor's degree in childhood education with Magna Cum Laude honors, from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2001. This success fulfilled her passion of becoming an elementary school teacher. She loved watching the children learn and grow into little people; however, her true dream was to become a mother. Devyn Gex was welcomed into the world on May 23rd, 2004, and Nicky loved her to the moon and back! This miracle was followed by a son Gehrig Gex, born December 23rd, 2008, thus creating Nicky's life's work! Anyone who knew Nicky knows her children were everything to her. Not a day went by that she wasn't spending time with them or wishing she was. They enjoyed many adventures together, including museums, theme parks, and movies. She loved teaching her children about the world and letting them know that they are loved.
Nicky also loved her family, friends, and animals. In high school she was everyone's friend and made each day a party. Always ready to go anywhere anytime, Nicky took pride in being a good person and being there for her friends. She created the kind of home where everyone was welcome and would feel comfortable. Nicky decorated for each holiday – Halloween in particular. Who can forget her 10-foot tall Frankenstein and spider webs that lasted for two months in the fall? Who remembers her helping birth boxers then later chasing them down the street because they could jump fences? Nicky loved listening to classic rock music, frequently talking about how epic the Beatles are. She enjoyed gymnastics and cheered on her favorite teams. Nicky spent every day of her life making sure that all her family, friends, and animals knew how much they were loved. She was there for every moment – good or bad. Her love and support will be missed.
Nicky was preceded in death by her mother Chere Kelley, Brother Kelley Moffett, and Aunt Carla Prnka.
Nicky is survived by father Morris and his wife Sherri Moffett, grandmother Bette Kelley, sister Stephanie McKinney, daughter Devyn Gex, son Gehrig Gex, uncle and aunt Robert and Brandi Kelley, cousin Michael Kelley, and niece Ally Bell. She is also survived by a dear nephew, extended family members, friends, and her favorite four-legged family members, Buck and Remi.
