Dorothy M. Nickerson
August 1, 1935 – May 26, 2025
Presque Isle – Dorothy M. Nickerson, 89 passed away at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital Comfort care on Monday, May 26, 2025. She was born August 1, 1935, to Merle and Mary Ann Monahan of Hodgdon, Maine.
Mom dedicated her life to being a mother and a grandmother. She enjoyed riding their side-by-side and snow sleds with Dad and other family members and friends. As time passed, she enjoyed sitting at the table putting puzzles together, as we all visited, we would join her and have great conversations and updates on the families.
Mom would have been 90 years old on August 1st, what a long and fulfilling life she had. In 1951, mom married her life-long love, our dad, Richard P. Nickerson. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2016. Together they had 8 children, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Merle and Mary Ann Monahan, her husband Richard P. Nickerson, 3 daughters Joyce, Peggy and Janet. She was also predeceased by her siblings, a brother William Monahan of Hodgdon and 3 sisters, Joanne Pavano of Connecticut, Betty Lou Haney of Houlton and Arlene Richards also of Houlton.
Dorothy is survived by her children Richard A. Nickerson of Presque Isle, Diane and her husband Andy McLean of Presque Isle, Jeffrey Nickerson of Presque Isle, Brenda Currie of Presque Isle, Lori Pendexter of Presque Isle, and a granddaughter they raised, Terri Nickerson of Easton, a brother Robert Monahan of Houlton. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A small graveside gathering will be held at Jewell Cemetery on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 10:00 am. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at: www.duncan-graves.com
