Dorothy Anne (Stephan) Van Note, age 77, of Indianapolis, passed away August 5, 2025. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 11, 1948, to Hendrich and Dorothy (Wilkins) Stephan. Dorothy was a 1966 graduate of Frankfort High School, and married Gary Allen that same year. To this union were born three children who survive her: Bill (Lori) Allen of Lebanon, Christa Michele (Brad) Orange of New Whiteland, and Chris (Meg) Allen of Greenwood. She married Kaywood "Woody" Van Note on September 9, 1984. Dorothy is also survived by Woody's two children: Woody (Misty Moralez) Van Note of Indianapolis, and Kevin (Kasey) Van Note of Selma.
Survivors also include her grandchildren: Annika Allen, Jacob Allen, Rebecca Orange, Chase Orange, Sarah Orange, Alec Allen, Amia Allen, Henry Allen, Logan Van Note, Skylar Van Note, Kya Van Note, and Rayne Van Note; siblings: Don Stephan and Anne (Paul) Weiss of Bay Village, Ohio; as well as her first husband: Gary Allen.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband: Kaywood Van Note; parents: Henry and Dorothy Stephan; and brother: Don Stephan.
She worked at the Boone County License Branch, Koala Center in Lebanon, Resource Treatment Center, and retired from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Dorothy enjoyed doing arts and crafts, playing online games, gardening, and talking and visiting with her family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your local Special Olympics or favorite animal rescue.
