Dorris Jean Breneman of Mexico, MO passed away at 6:30 AM Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Mexico, MO, at the age of 96 with her loving family by her side at Amanda's home.

The family invites all those whose lives were touched by Dorris to join them for a visitation at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Dorris will then be laid to rest in the Vandalia Cemetery

Dorris was born on April 1, 1929, at home in Vandalia, MO the daughter of Jessie Porter, Sr. and Lillian Gertrude (Reese) Sanderson.

She was united in marriage to Randall Breneman on February 19, 1950, in Vandalia, MO at the First Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1977.

Dorris is survived by her loving sons, Randy Breneman and wife Jeannie of Mexico, MO, and Joe Breneman of West Palm Beach, FL. She took great pride in her grandchildren, Patrick Talbott, Amanda Hodges, Tim Hodges, Lucas Breneman, and Nicole Breneman, and the joy continued with her great-grandchildren: Asa Talbott, Chloe Landrum, Blake Landrum, Aiden Hodges, and Eli Hodges. They were the light of her life, and their laughter and love filled her days with happiness.

Dorris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, loving daughter, Nikki Hodges at the age of 39, along with her brothers, Jess Sanderson, Jr. and Dale Sanderson, and her sister, Thresa Bernice Harris.

A graduate of Vandalia High School, Dorris dedicated a significant part of her life to her career as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Ziegler and Dr. Gualberto. Her professionalism and dedication were admired by colleagues and patients alike, testament to her resilient and caring nature.

Dorris spent many good years in Vandalia raising her family and always considered Vandalia her home. She was known for her welcoming spirit, always opening her home to those she loved. Her passion for cooking and baking provided countless memorable meals that brought family together. Whether it was sharing stories over card games or music and dancing, she created an atmosphere of joy and togetherness that will be dearly missed.

She found immense joy in her hobbies, from reading and cheering for the Mizzou Tigers Basketball team to cherished trips to Florida and the Lake of the Ozarks with her family. The small pleasures of life were what Dorris truly treasured, and she did so with grace and style, always dressed beautifully and fashionable.

Mrs. Breneman was Presbyterian by faith.

Pallbearers will be Pat Talbott, Lucas Breneman, Tim Hodges, Blake Landrum, Asa Talbott, Aiden Hodges and Eli Hodges.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Dixie Shrine Club in memory of Dorris.
