Douglas A. Wheaton, 64, of Mack Road, Addison, NY passed away very suddenly on Friday, December 13, 2024 while delivering propane near Auburn, NY.
Doug was born in Wellsboro, PA on October 7, 1960, the son of Clinton and Arlene Miller Wheaton. Raised in Whitesville, NY, he attended school there and was a graduate of Whitesville Central School. Doug entered the US Air Force following high school and retired after 20 years of military service.
Doug and the former Tammy Williams were married on October 11, 2014 at the East Troupsburg Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, including rabbit and rattlesnake hunting, fishing and camping. He adored his grandchildren and treasured time spent with them. Doug enjoyed card games, particularly a game of euchre. He was a member of the Elkland Moose Lodge.
Doug was employed for over 18 years as a truck driver exclusively transporting propane to regional distributers and propane dealers. He started his career with Papco and later Crestwood and was currently employed by Hilco.Transport.
Along with Doug's wife Tammy Wheaton at home, he is survived by his children, Clorinda (Maverick) Kendrick of Columbia, MS and Brandon (Sarah) Wheaton of Stringer, MS, his step children, Alan (Jessica) Hurler of Potter Brook, PA and Blane Hurler of Elmira, his mother, Arlene Reynolds of Canisteo, his grandchildren, Matti, Grace, Brody, Tori, Logan, Brenden, Abigayle, Madison, Reagan and Bryar, his great grandchildren, Jonathon and Bailey, his siblings, Deb Jacobs of Canisteo, Randy (Patrice) Wheaton of Westfield, Brian Wheaton of Knoxville, Sue (Rick) Reigh of Harrison Valley, Shane (Betsy) Wheaton of Dumore, KY and Pam Johnson of Pensacola, FL along with several nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his father and step mother, Clinton and Janeann Wheaton and his son Jonathon Wheaton on Oct. 13, 2014.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 18 from 4 to 7 pm at the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday at 11 am with Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will be made in North Bingham Cemetery, North Bingham, PA.
