Douglas Paul Hudson, known as "Doug" passed away peacefully at Evelyn's House in Creve Coeur, Missouri on August 3, 2024, at the age of 50. He passed away due to complications from Esophageal Cancer after a recent diagnosis on 7/6/24. He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on March 8, 1974 to parents Daniel B. and Roberta L. (Jean) Hudson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert B. and Florence E. (Johnson) Hudson and Victor R. and Erma L. (Pruitt) Jean, and son, Brandon Main.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Nina (Sevem) Hudson. Sons, Grant Hudson and Ryan (Maria) Main. Grandchildren: Carter and Evelyn Main. Sister Denise (JD) Wade, Sister-in-laws Shelley (Sean) Axtetter and Annie Sevem (Justin Zesch). He was a loving nephew, cousin and friend to so many. Doug was a wonderful son, devoted husband, nurturing father, fun best friend, kind human, always a problem-solver and a kid at heart.
Doug graduated from Lafayette High School and earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Tulsa. Professionally, Doug worked for Schneider Electric as a Mechanical Engineer for 22 years. His successful career was dominated by excellence in handling meticulous details.
Doug was very busy outside of work as well. For the last 8 years, he has served as the resident engineer for the Big Bend Woods Bath & Tennis Club Board. He was passionate about upgrading the facilities and ensuring the future success and growing the community spirit. He coached hundreds of boys in baseball
for 20+ years. He was a well-loved Cub Scout Leader, Assistant Cub Master and ultimately Cub Master. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially, boating, softball, golf, and skiing. However, he was likely best known for his ability to fix or repair anything. He loved to build, remodel, plan projects and work with his hands. He was widely known for his legendary tool collection. "When in doubt overwhelm a project with tools" was his motto.
He loved hanging out with friends sharing stories and planning adventures. He would run into someone he knew almost anywhere even while traveling out of state.
His favorite times were spent traveling with his family to new places as well as old familiar places. Table Rock Lake and Big Cedar Lodge were annual respites. He could enjoy DisneyWorld from open to close if we let him. He was a master beach sand sculpturist. The family is famous for planning epic road trips and making memories together. He also enjoyed visiting Europe, Hawaii and Aruba.
