Graveside services for Douglas S. Johnson, Sr. will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 31, 2023 at Springhill Cemetery, Jonesboro, LA with Bro. Mac Brunson officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Doug was born January 28, 1948 in Monroe, LA and passed away March 28, 2023 in West Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Vester Johnson and Sarah Della Fuller Johnson; siblings Virginia Dowd, Virgil Johnson and Jackie Johnson; in-laws Rev. C.S. "Preacher" Martin and Willie V. Martin;brother-in-law Mel Rice.
Doug really loved outdoor activities, especially at "The Camp", planting trees, bush hogging, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. In his earlier years he raced and enjoyed going to the races. Doug loved traveling with his family and friends.
Doug is survived by the love of his life for 54 years, Mary Beth Martin Johnson; children, Douglas Stanley Johnson, Jr. and wife Kelly, Jerry Don Johnson and wife April, and Craig Martin Johnson; 4 grandchildren, Jay Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Searra Johnson and Austin Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren Emory Johnson, Eason Johnson and Emeila Johnson; brother Danny Leon Johnson (Liz) and sister Juanita Sexton; sister-in-law Willene Rice and brother-in-law Paul Martin (Shirley).
Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Austin Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Jr., Mario Leija, Kevin Tompkins and Tony Kohler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jr. Carter, Charlie Brown, Larry Peveto and Murwyn Newell.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Springhill Cemetery Association in care of Willene Rice, 925 Walker Road, Jonesboro, LA 71251.
