Douglas Robert Moss was born on May 10,1966, in Rexburg Idaho to Robert Kay Moss and Carol Cunningham Moss. He was the first born of eight children. During his childhood Doug enjoyed wherever he was.
In 1966 the Moss family moved to Brea, California, where he enjoyed playing at the park with his cousins. When Doug was in fifth grade, his family moved to Moore, Idaho. His hobbies turned to gardening and taking his 4-H lambs to the Butte County fair. He was a busy child who enjoyed working on several 4-H projects, such as lambs, rock collecting, entomology, forestry and gardening. He received the 4-H gardening award in 1980 at the state fair. He received his Eagle Scout award in 1982. His Eagle project was refinishing the tables at the city park in Arco, Idaho.
Doug welcomed many siblings during his growing up years. His first partner in adventures was his brother Dennis who was only 13 months younger than Doug,
Doug worked on a pineapple plantation in Hawaii for a few months in 1983 after his Senior year of High School. During High School he received the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement at Butte High School and graduated in 1984. At age 19 he served as a missionary for the LDS church in Mexico from 1985 to 1987. After his missionary service he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Science.
On November 24,1993 he welcomed his first baby boy with his wife Brenda Flory. They gave him the name of Trevor. Doug was excited to be a dad. Doug attended Creighton University where he graduated with a Doctor's degree in Dentistry in 1994. Dentistry became his lifelong career and one of his biggest passions.
Doug opened a practice in Coeur d Alene, Idaho and later moved to Willows, California where he opened his present practice. Dentistry was his lifelong career and one of his biggest passions. On March 24, 2011, Doug welcomed his second child, Brady Douglas Moss, into the family with his wife Susie Sutherland. On May 8, 2021, Doug married Lucy Olson on a beautiful beach in Hawaii. He enjoyed teaching his stepchildren how to ride motorcycles, took them camping and hosted Friday nights in the hot tub. Doug loved helping his local community in Willows CA. Doug owned Moss Family Dentistry where he greatly served his community for 12 years. In 2024 he was voted one of best Dentists in all of Glenn County California. Along with dentistry Doug enjoyed playing the piano, riding dirt bikes, painting, photographing, Halloween, hiking, popcorn, and spending time with his Family in Idaho.
Riding dirt bikes in the mountains was his passion. Doug was always excited to find new trails and places to explore with his dirt bike.
Doug was a generous and dedicated man to his job and family. Doug loved his parents, siblings, sons, stepchildren and wife. He was gifted with many talents that touched many people in his 58 years of life. Doug will be forever missed and never forgotten by his family, friends, and patients.
Doug is survived by his wife, Lucy Moss; two biological sons, Trevor Lee Moss and Brady Douglas Moss; three stepchildren, Ryan, Claire, and Kevin Olsen; his parents Robert and Carol Moss and seven brothers and sisters: Dennis Moss (Danielle Moss) Daryl Moss (Juleen Moss) Shelly Stratton (Richard Stratton) David Moss (Sarah Moss) Shauna Nalder (Laren Nalder) Sharlyn Richardson (Peter Richardson and Shannon Brown (Nick Brown).
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Moore Stake Center. A viewing will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pioneer Cemetery in Moore, ID under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
A memorial will be held in Doug's Honor on May 10, 2025, in Willows, California at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building, 810 North Humboldt Ave. Time is yet determined.
