Funeral services celebrating the life of Doyle LaRon “Ron” Donaldson, Jr., 80, of Calhoun, Louisiana, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 27, 2024, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana, with Rev. Werner Aswell and Dr. Marty Black officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. The visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 26, 2024, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Ron was born on August 7, 1943, in West Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on July 23, 2024, in Monroe, Louisiana.
Mr. Donaldson was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Ron served in the United States Army. He was a computer programmer for Manville, Riverwood, and Graphic Packaging before his retirement. He was an active member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and served as a deacon there for many years. He loved watching football, especially the LSU Tigers. Ron loved to dance with the love of his life, Carolyn. He was a baseball coach for many years with the Dixie Youth. Ron was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved watching westerns, and most importantly he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle L. Donaldson, Sr. and Jimmy Hays Donaldson; and his beloved wife, Carolyn Street Bailey Donaldson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Stacy Donaldson and his wife, Brandy and Scott Donaldson and his wife, Patricia; daughters, Adonna Murphy and her husband, Mickey, Carrie Milstead and her husband, Robby, and Kim Osbon and her husband, Derek; brother, Darryl Donaldson; sister, Karen Newton; grandchildren, Paige Donaldson, Creed Donaldson, Adam Murphy and his wife, Chella, Abby Murphy, Benjamin Milstead and his wife, Kristie, Blake Milstead and his wife, Amanda, Bradley Milstead and his wife, Jessica, Bailey Youmans and her husband, Chase, Lilli Osbon, and Brittany Wooden and her husband, Jake; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons Adam Murphy, Creed Donaldson, Benjamin Milstead, Blake Milstead, Bradley Milstead, and Chase Youmans.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amanda Hutto, who is like another daughter to him, Lisa Hughes and the staff of Stoneybrook Memory Care Home, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Francis Specialty Hospital.
