Doyle Clayton "George" Jeffers

With full hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Doyle Clayton "George" Jeffers, age 72, who will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. George peacefully departed this life on Monday, November 24, 2025. Born on January 12, 1953, in LaFayette, Georgia, he was the cherished son of the late Wilford Jeffers and Frances Jeffers Wilkes and step-father, Joe Wilkes.
George dedicated over thirty years of his life to the Boilermakers Union 26, where he exemplified an unwavering work ethic and forged lifelong friendships. He married his beloved wife, Hilda, and together they built a nourishing life rich with family, faith, and the simple joys of everyday living.
An adventurous spirit, George found delight in exploring old junkyards, listening to 70's music, fishing, visiting casinos, and admiring classic cars. However, his greatest joy came from the time spent with his beloved grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Hilda "Jean" Edwards Jeffers; daughter and son-in-law, Krystal and Matthew Killcreas; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Heather Jeffers;. George will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Hailey Toney, Emma Toney, Chelsea Jeffers Gray, Wesley Jeffers and Godchild, Carlie Nalley, along with his great-grandchildren, Laelyn and Brooks Jordan, who filled his heart with endless joy. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and David Wilkes-Berry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilford and Permelia Jeffers, Steve and Donna Jeffers, and Phillip and Marsha Jeffers, along with many nieces, nephews and other family members that will miss him dearly.
A memorial service celebrating George's life will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, where Wilford "Jr." Jeffers and Tony Jeffers will officiate. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM, inviting everyone to share in the reflections and memories that make George's life so extraordinary.
As we honor his legacy, we encourage all to reflect on the joy he brought to our lives and to celebrate the love that continues to connect us. George will forever be in our hearts.
