Drew Midford, 63 of Rocky Hill was taken from this world unexpectedly on March 27, 2025. He was the son of the late Howard and Arlene Midford of Wethersfield.
Drew was a graduate of Wethersfield High School and was a lifelong tinker and mechanic. He held a number of early jobs in maintenance and mechanical roles and followed his passion working at Gravers Tree care where he repaired landscaping equipment. Eventually, with them as his first customer, he started Drews Small Engine Repair business in Wethersfield.
A quiet and solitary soul and something of a night owl, Drew could often be found late at night smoking a cigar while working on projects in his shop where classical music could be heard playing on his stereo, sharing the night with Buddy, Cougar, and other stray cats that he adopted over the years. Friends and family frequented his shop bringing their troubled machines and having a quick chat and then letting "Dr Drew" do his magic, returning shortly thereafter to find their babies up and running again. He never really took vacations, but he had a dream of eventually "retiring" to a tropical island where he would live by the beach, fish, and fix classic car and boat engines. It is a dream that sadly will never come to pass.
Drew leaves behind his sisters Jody Robitaille and her husband Russ Robitaille of Manchester CT and Shelly Jamison and her husband David Jamison of Fort Collins Colorado. He also leaves behind nephew Nicholas Robitaille, niece Jessica Robitaille, nephew Scott Jamison and niece Brynna Jamison.
The family would like to thank his friends and customers for their many kindnesses to him over the years, and particularly Bruce Graver for always keeping an eye out for Drew.
A life celebration and remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Drew, please visit our floral store.
