Dwayne Edward Richardson, 86, of Huntsville; peacefully passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at his home in Huntsville, with his wife Genie by his side. He was born Saturday, February 11, 1939, at Springfield; to Charles Simms and Eva Casteel Richardson.
Growing up, Dwayne spent most of his time with his siblings. His two cousins, Betty and Joanne, had so much love and respect for Dwayne as he drove them around in his dad's truck to pick berries for their families. Dwayne attended grade school in White Church, Missouri, and then attended Washington High School through 11th grade in Lebanon. Dwayne moved to California with his parents in 1957. He then married Barbara Jean, in Missouri in 1958, and together they had three girls, Cheryl (mother of two boys), Marsha (mother of one son and three daughters), and Donna (mother of two girls). His wife, Barbara Jean, passed away on June 2, 2003.
Dwayne was a skilled carpenter and a true handyman-talented in many areas and always willing to lend a hand. He admired Elvis Presley and visited Graceland twice with his wife Genie. Dwayne loved sipping cappuccinos, spending time outdoors camping, and attending car shows. He had a warm, easygoing nature and a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. People were naturally drawn to his kind spirit. Dwayne retired early so he could lovingly care for his first wife, Barbara, a testament to his deep compassion and devotion.
In late 2004, he met Genie Allison. They were together for fifteen years before marrying on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in Norwalk, California. They had traveled to Arkansas many times and fell in love with the area before moving here in October of 2021.
During his last visit to Memphis, Dwayne took his valuable antique steel guitar and sold it to a special music teacher of autistic children. It was important that his guitar was loved by it' s new owner as much as he loved it.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eva Richardson; his first wife, Barbara Richardson; two sisters, Mary Ruth and Madge Marie; and three brothers, Dennis Wayne, Charles "Buster", and Edward Earl Richardson.
He is survived by his wife, Genie Allison-Richardson of the home, who he was with for 21 years; three daughters, Cheryl and Marsha of West Covina, California, and Donna of Rancho Cucamonga, California; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two stepsons; one stepdaughter; eight step-grandchildren; and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow services at Sparks Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
