Dwayne Earl Stobbs of Pleasanton passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the age of 52. He was born in Jourdanton to Delward Edward and Patricia Ann (Lynn) Stobbs. He wasn't always easy to figure out, rough around the edges, quick with a sharp word, and never one to hold back his opinion and didn't care much for sugarcoating anything. But, if he loved you, you knew it, and he never let you forget it.
In 1997, Dwayne and Maggie brought their families together. Like many blended families, theirs wasn't without struggles, and certain ties were left tender, shaped by life's complications. But behind the roughness, Dwayne carried love for all his kids even when words weren't enough. Dwayne was a hard worker through and through, spending over 30 years in the oil field. He took pride in what he did and passed that work ethic on. Welding in the barn was something Dwayne loved, and he passed that on to his son Dillon who turned those hours into more than memories, building a career from the skill they once shared.
From local lakes to the coast, Dwayne loved the peace of fishing-but it meant the most when he was with Colton, baiting hooks and sharing quiet laughs during their playful casting competitions. He found joy in hunting on the McCoy property, manning the grill with a cold one in hand, or helping haul pigs to the next stock show. Dwayne also enjoyed gambling. Not just at the casinos but during family game night or any other opportunity he could present. Dwayne didn't play it safe. He walked his own path and trusted what felt right. He sure wasn't trying to impress anybody.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Alma Mauphin Murphy; his grandparents, Edward and Ruby Stobbs, and Roy T. Lynn; his father, Delward Stobbs; his uncle, Billy Lynn, Rex Stobbs; and his aunt, Judy Lynn Tausch.
He is survived by a large and loving family, including his grandmother Joy Hill; grandparents Jack and Janette Harrison; his mother, Patricia Harrison; his wife, Maggie Stobbs; his brothers: Brian (April) Stobbs, Kevin (Niki) Stobbs; His children: Colton (Tyra) Manela, Colton Stobbs, Mikayla (Ruben) Vidal, and Dillon (Kara) Stobbs. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles,
and many friends who will forever remember his wild stories, big personality, and no-nonsense way of life.
A celebration of Dwayne's life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather between 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for visitation. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 p.m., where stories will be
shared and laughter welcomed.
