Mr. Earl Howard Sowders Sr, age 87, of Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Friday morning at his residence.
He was the father of Earl Howard Sowders, Jr. and wife, Jill of Georgetown, Kentucky, David Blaine Sowders and wife, Melissa of Knoxville, Tennessee, Sharon Diane Sproule and Davina Rachelle North and husband, John all of Corbin, Kentucky and Brittany Marie Bogle of Barbourville, Kentucky. He was also blessed with five grandchildren, Michelle Eggen and husband, Chris of Louisville, Kentucky, Paul Jason Helton and wife, Amanda and Julian North all of Corbin, Kentucky, Noelle Smith and husband, Jack and David C. Sowders all of Knoxville, Tennessee, plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a former insurance agent with American General Life Insurance Company. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Miracle Sowders, by his parents, Walter and Mary Hatfield Sowders, by one brother B.F Sowders, by sisters, Edith Chaffin, Faye Strunk, Mae Duncan, and Dorothy Johnson, and by one son-in-law, James Howard Sproule.
Funeral services for Mr. Earl Howard Sowders Sr will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darryl Bryant officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the local D.A.V. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky. The family of Mr. Earl Howard Sowders Sr will receive friends at Laurel Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Callon Willett, Bo Hinkle, Lucas Hinkle, Paul Jason Helton, David C. Sowders and Christopher Eggen.
