Cody (“Coot”) Noble Sowders

1978-2025

It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved and cherished Cody (“Coot”) Noble Sowders. Cody, 47, of Bloomington, IN. Cody passed in his home on May 9th, 2025.

Cody was born in Grant, New Mexico, moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he lived his childhood years. He always said his heart was in Arizona and a place he’d deeply miss. Around Cody's teen years he moved to stay in Indiana. He was truly a one-of-a-kind man who you remembered after once even meeting. Cody stood by things that meant something to him, he was strong, but sensitive, had an unwavering sense of loyalty, smart, caring and had a good sense of humor. Oh, could he tell a story! Cody will be a hard one to forget, he gave too much to remember! He had that infectious laugh when he’d let it out, with his pretty blue eyes that would seem to light up. He was artistic, had soul, enjoyed music and was adventurous and loved the outdoors. Especially, camping, fishing, ginseng and mushroom hunting, anything to do with water like boating or swimming. Taking the family to the lake or spending time on a nice day with his loved ones, listening to him while he tells another wild, funny story, happy he made them all laugh. This was Cody's ideal kinda day. He enjoyed watching sports with close friends near. Mostly, he was at a place where time with his loved ones, this is where he wanted to be. Cody had continuously been working on himself for quite sometime. He genuinely wanted to better himself and make his family proud. Working hard trying to live in a more righteous way, he put himself out there, vulnerable and unmasked. He especially wanted to be a more dependable father, partner and wanted to make his parents more proud to call him their son. Over the years Cody had accomplished and grew in so many ways. Triumph after triumph Cody had become an even more wonderful man, committed and an involved father and a happily, devoted partner. Finally, Cody cared for his own wellbeing, he was committed to a better self, he loved himself and others. Cody worked hard through his battles and showed significant improvement in his growth. He cared for his life and thought of consequence, he was persistent in his commitment to becoming a better man. Cody until his last day was fighting his fight and had become the man he was trying to be. To meet Cody, was a rare soul to come by. If you had the chance to get to know him, you had been truly blessed, and he will be hard to ever forget.

Cody is survived by his best friend and soul mate, Stephanie Young, of almost 9 wonderful years; His 7 children whom he loved so, only ever wanting more and better for them. He seen a little bit of himself in each; Ivy, Gavin, Adrienne, Tayvia, Lily, Bella and Aryanna; 1 grandson, Kaysen, whom called Cody, “Gampy”; His sister Niki Grey (Sowders) whom he loved very much and was grateful for their most recent closeness; His parents whom never gave up on him and whom he loved and cherished, Jeff Sowders and Marjann (Wallick) Sowders; His grandmother who held a very special place in his heart, Shirly Johnson-Stangas; His brother-in law Juston Young, whom Cody loved as if they were blood relation; Two nephews and one great niece he just adored. Also will be left behind are many family members as well as many countless others who will forever miss Cody.

May Cody's memory be a blessing and we carry forth his legacy of love, loyalty and forever commitment to bettering oneself. Protecting those you hold dear. His last and continual mission in life was to live a more loving, righteous way. To have continual growth, understanding, and to make your family proud. As Cody did, even through the struggle and obstacles faced, never to give up, only to keep on. This is his memory to be cherished, the legacy he leaves behind. That and all 7 kids he’d want to humorously add.

A life celebration will be on June 29, 2025 at the Hendricks Community Center, 8866 IN-43 Solsberry, IN during 1pm-5pm. All whom wish to honor Cody’s memory are welcomed to join.
