Earnest Dee Leatherman, 84, of Garner, passed from this life on July 21, 2025. Earnest was born to Elmo and Evelyn Leatherman on May 19, 1941, Garner, Texas, where he spent most of his life. He went to Garner Elementary school, then later attended Millsap High School.
Earnest joined the Air Force in 1959, where he spent four years as an aircraft maintenance chief. He met the love of his life Martha Joe Jobe in Garner School. They married on September 9, 1962 and together they had four children: Carl, Greg, Tim, and Tina. He worked most of his life for Crown, Cork & Seal in Fort Worth, Texas. Later, he worked in Weatherford in lumber yards and after retirement, he did odd jobs for the Garner School and living across the street from the school he watched over it at night. Earnest was a hard worker and a jack of all trades; he could fix almost anything.
Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Evelyn Leatherman; wife, Martha Leatherman; and son, Tim Leatherman, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Leatherman.
He is survived by sons, Carl Leatherman and wife, Rebekah of Abilene, Texas, Greg Leatherman of Weatherford, and daughter, Tina Leatherman of Garner; grandchildren, Derek, Blake, Codey, Gareth, Candice, Jessica, Devon, Timothy Jr., and Alisha; great-grandchildren, Chase, Jasper, Tobias, Ena, Zayn, Kylo, Archer, Shane, Ziva, Roland, Grace, Aubrey, Cooper, Kaylynn (KayKay), Carson, Skylar, Kayden, MacKenzie, Hayden, and Wyatt; two brothers, Leonard Leatherman and Dalton Leatherman; one sister, Wanda Lovelace; and one sister-in-law, Mary Holguin; countless nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation at will take place at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Garner Baptist Church, 2304 FM 113, Weatherford, Texas 76088, on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
