Ed Matteson, age 73, of Jasper, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at his residence. He was born on March 4, 1952, in Roswell, New Mexico, to the late William Lewis Matteson and Marjorie Lee Matteson.
Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1977 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he retired from General Motors after 26 years of dedicated service. Ed was a faithful member of Gospel Outreach Church in Ball Ground.
He had a deep love for motorcycles and enjoyed attending numerous rallies over the years. Above all, Ed loved the Lord and genuinely loved people. His kind spirit, faith, and warm presence will be remembered by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arthur Lewis Matteson. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken Matteson (Melony) and EL Matteson (Iulia); as well as beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Gospel Outreach Church with Pastor Jerry Stewart and Chaplain Roland Nelson officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Georgia National Cemetery.
